Beth McGinley owns and founded Positive Healing & Trauma Services. She is a licensed mental health counselor in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

Beth works with children beginning at age four, adolescents, adults, couples and older adults. Her areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship and family concerns, and outpatient addiction recovery. She has also worked extensively in outpatient mental health programs, school-based counseling and substance-use treatment settings.

Her experience across multiple levels of care gives Beth a broad understanding of how trauma, family relationships, behavioral patterns and life circumstances can affect a person’s emotional well-being. She brings that perspective into therapy while tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs, background and goals.

Education and Experience

Beth holds a master’s degree in education from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Seton Hall University. She also completed a post-master’s credential in professional counseling at Seton Hall. In addition to her certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Beth has received training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

Beth’s professional background includes work in inpatient substance-use rehabilitation, intensive outpatient programs and community-based mental health settings. She has worked with men receiving inpatient treatment and women participating in intensive outpatient care, including programs developed as alternatives to incarceration and to support family reunification.

She has facilitated groups addressing self-esteem, parenting, relapse prevention, and anger management. Beth has also provided counseling and assessments for children, adolescents and families affected by poverty, trauma and instability.

Clinical Supervision

Beth provides clinical supervision for associate counselors as they develop their skills, strengthen their clinical judgment and work toward independent licensure. Her supervisory approach draws on her experience in trauma-informed care, substance-use treatment, family counseling and a range of outpatient and community-based settings.

Compassionate and Personalized Therapy

Beth builds meaningful therapeutic relationships that give clients space to explore difficult experiences and recognize patterns that may affect their emotional health, relationships, or daily functioning.

She works with clients from a wide range of racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. Rather than relying on a single approach, Beth considers each client’s experiences, values and goals when developing a treatment plan. Her objective is to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen their coping skills, and make changes that support a healthier, more fulfilling life.
